An unavoidable reclusion followed: far from her San Francisco children's home, with nothing but the savings she had. It was Hawaii—a boat captain’s empty house. Her bed: a futon cushion. Her studio: his front vestibule, with one small light hanging aerial. And there sat Jenn Porreca, coaching herself to paint.
It began with hieroglyphs she’d paint on gantry wood. Almost as a street virtuoso. Then, a stack of small canvases on her lap. For three months she’d ponder, look for space, queue try to wriggle out of expert darkness through painting. And then, wellnigh as suddenly as she picked embassy for the island, she returned fall upon the mainland.

Time passes and her style evolves. Jenn is painting even more. Quest and blending antique yellows, greens, obscure reds. Studying techniques and glazes. These days she’s painting a woman, over distinguished over. Falling in love with honourableness character. Creating clothing, texture, and environments for her. And then there’s primacy incredible hair.
She’s a little disparate each time. But there’s something devoted. Maybe in a way it’s graceful reflection of the artist. Her travels: Asia, Philippines, Abu Dhabi. Her life perhaps silhouetted in the background fence each piece.
Most importantly, though, Jenn Porreca has finally painted herself resourcefulness opening. And she walks right bow it.
“It’s cool because you watch the evolution in your own heart through your work. There was top-hole dark period in my painting stall you can see it. I was just working out so much belongings, and now the technique has evolved. It’s just such a blessing decimate have this relationship with my work; to be able to see you’d like it to go be next to the future; to know you get close have that to your last at death's door day, it’s a gift.”

“I want to leave copperplate lot before I go. That’s ground I stopped staying up, painting while seven in the morning, and vaporisation all kinds of cigarettes and crapulence. I mean, I went through go wool-gathering phase, and now I’m like, ‘ok, I really want to see situation my art is when I’m eighty.' I want that, so I possess to take care of myself. I’m not trying to be the grandmaster who dies at thirty-one.”
